Abstract:

Introduction: Cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction, is associated with progressive ventricular dysfunction and cardiovascular death. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of endurance exercise training on morphological changes in rat heart tissue following experimental myocardial infarction. Materials and methods: Rats used in this experiment (8-10 weeks old, 235 ± 5 g body weight) after homogenization according to body weight, were randomly divided to three groups: Healthy (Sham), control (Sedentary) and endurance training groups. Myocardial infarction was induced by subcutaneous injection of isoprenaline (150 mg/kg) in two consecutive days with an interval of 24 hours. Endurance training initiated 2 days after infarction and continued for 4 weeks. In order to assess the necrosis lesion and fibrosis tissue, Hematoxylin–Eosin and Masson's trichrome staining were used, respectively. Data were analyzed by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) at P< 0.05 level. Results: The results indicated that subcutaneous injection of isoprenaline, induced myocardial infarction in rat heart tissue. Rate of necrotic lesion in the Endurance training group was significantly higher than Sedentary (control) group (P=0.005). Also, the size of fibrosis tissue in the Endurance training group was significantly higher than the sedentary (control) group (P= 0.001). Conclusion: In general, results of this study showed that 4 weeks of endurance exercise training after myocardial infarction exacerbate tissue injury in rat heart.

Short-term heart rate variability changes after exercise training in subjects following myocardial infarction.

Heart rate variability reflects the activity of autonomic nervous system. The aim was to evaluate the value of short-term spectral analysis of heart rate for monitoring the effects of exercise training on the autonomic nervous system in subjects following myocardial infarction. Short-term spectral analysis of heart rate variability was performed during standardised supine-standing-supine test i...

THE EFFECT OF ENDURANCE EXERCISE TRAINING AND OCTOPAMINE SUPPLEMENTATION ON NLRP1 INFLAMMASOME, PI3K, APOPTOSIS, AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN HEART TISSUE OF RATS POISONED WITH DEEP-FRIED OIL

Background & Aims: Common nutritional mistakes cause inflammation and homeostasis disruption in heart cells. Inflammasome complex is one of the pathways that induces inflammation and degradation of cardiac protein regeneration. The aim of the present study was to investigate changes in NLRP1inflammasome, PI3k, apoptosis, and histopathology of heart tissue following aerobic physical activity and...

The effect of exercise training on heart rate during coitus in the post myocardial infarction patient.

The effect of interval exercise training on the peak coital heart rate in post myocardial infarction patients was studied. Sixteen men (ages 46-54) underwent a 16-week bicycle ergometer training program 12 to 15 weeks following their first myocardial infarction. Portable ECG tape recorders were used to record the ECG during coitus twice before and twice after the training program. The maximum m...

Protective Effect of Diosgenin and Exercise Training on Biochemical and ECG Alteration in Isoproterenol- Induced Myocardial Infarction in Rats

Objective(s) Several studies have reported improved response of exercised hearts to myocardial infarction (MI). This study was aimed to evaluate the preventive role of treadmill exercise and diosgenin on cardiac marker enzymes, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), total antioxidant status (TAS), lipids, and electrocardiographic (ECG) patterns in isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardi...

Effect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and left ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and systolic ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods: Four weeks after the surgically-induced MI, 40 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to the following 4 groups (n=10): MI-sedentary control (Sed) MI-exercise (Ex) MI-...
